World Health Organization adopts global action plan on dementia World Health Organization has adopted the global plan on dementia on 29 May 2017. It calls on the governments to develop their national dementia policy actively. Taipei, 29 May 2017 - Te-Jen Lai, president of Taiwan Alzheimer’s Disease Association(TADA), said : “Taiwan has issued the Taiwan Dementia Policy in August 2013. The adoption of the global action plan is beneficial for Taiwan to renew dementia policy.

Taiwan government should take into consideration the WHO global action plan on dementia, President Te-Jen Lai thanks Alzheimer's Disease International for their efforts and contribution in advocacy for people with dementia and their carers. It is TADA's honor to be a full member of ADI and work hand in hand with all ADI members.

Global Action Plan on Dementia The seven targets of the plan include (1) Dementia as a public health priority; (2) Dementia awareness and friendliness; (3) Dementia risk reduction; (4) Dementia diagnosis, treatment, care and support; (5) Support for dementia carers;(6) Information systems for dementia; and (7) Dementia research and innovation.

Taiwan Dementia Policy: A Framework for Prevention and Care Taiwan Dementia Policy published in August 2013. The main objectives of Taiwan Dementia Policy are timely diagnosis and early intervention to reduce the impact of dementia, good quality services to meet the need, maintain the dignity and improve the quality of life of people with dementia and their family.
